Pastor Victor J. Lewis, Sr.

Victor J. Lewis, Sr. is a servitude pastor, passionate leader, orator and prolific teacher engaged in preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, committed to revolutionizing and transforming the body of Christ. For 20 years, Pastor Lewis, Sr. has served as a visionary and innovative senior pastor.  Under his servant leadership Friendship Baptist Church of Roslyn, Inc. the ministry,   membership and infrastructure have grown each year. 

A native of Memphis, Tennessee Senior Pastor Victor J. Lewis is the only eldest son of the late Evangelist E. Joye Lewis and Mr. Joe Lewis.  He has one sister Joyce Lewis of Baldwin, L.I. Reverend Lewis was raised in Queens, New York where he attended Jamaica High School.  He graduated in 1980 and matriculated in Hampton Institute in Hampton, Virginia where he graduated in 1984 earning his Bachelor of Arts degree while simultaneously receiving his commission as an officer in the United States Armed Forces.

After graduation, Pastor Lewis returned home and studied Computer Technology which consequently led to his employment by The New York Stock Exchange where the Lord blessed him to elevate to the Position of National Director of Training.  He served in that institution for over 17 years. 

During his employment at the NYSE Euronext (NYX) he received his orders to deploy for “Operation Desert Shield/Storm," where he mobilized with his command of over 150+ professional soldiers under the leadership of General “Stormin” Norman Schwartzkopf and Joint Chief of Staff Colin Powell in support of the war.  It was during this encounter on the border of Iraq and Kuwait that the Lord would speak to his heart and call him to the ministry.  While in combat, he received a battlefield promotion to the rank of Captain which he subsequently walked away from with all of its rights, benefits, and privileges to fulfill the call of God in his life.  He immediately began his preparation for Ministry by enrolling in The Hugee Theological Institute of Harlem, New York.  It is from this institution of learning that he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, while achieving the added blessing of being the class valedictorian.

During his biblical training, the Lord saw fit to give him the greatest blessing of his life; his Proverbs 18:22 whosoever findeth a wife findeth a “good thing” the former Audrey L. Johnson of the Bronx, New York.  He is the proud father of four beautiful children Netanya A. Lewis, Victor J. Lewis Jr., Joshua V. Lewis & Saieda Lataillade-Lewis.

After departing from ministry associations in Harlem, New York, Pastor Lewis and his family joined the Friendship Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend Richard L. Hunter Jr.; it is under the tutelage of Reverend Hunter that he was licensed to preach the gospel in August 2000, and ordained in March 2001 as the Pastor of the Westbury Community Church (Westbury, LI, New York) he served there faithfully for over 7 years. 


In 2007 he received his greatest ministerial blessing by receiving a call back home to Pastor Friendship Baptist Church of Roslyn, Inc. (Roslyn Heights, LI, NY).  During his pastorate there, he has been blessed to serve as President of the North Shore Chapter of the NAACP, he serves as Board Chairman of E Joy Community Resources Center has been published in several Christian magazines, has preached throughout the United States and was featured for a season on “The Word Network”.  Last but not least, he believes in the healing power of God!  He is a “double” cancer survivor which further ratified that his Christian journey like his life has been filled with great pain, tribulation, and likewise victory and above all else joy.
